Come to the Hôtel des Invalides to celebrate Saint Barbara’s Day and watch spectacular artillery displays and demonstrations.
In collaboration with the French School of Artillery of Draguignan, the musée de l’Armée, will host a unique performance in the Cour d’Honneur of the Hôtel national des Invalides in honour of Saint Barbara, the patron saint of gunners. The free outdoor show divided into five distinct tableaux will tell the story of French artillery starting from the Middle Ages to present-day. Come watch dynamic demonstrations of historical artillery techniques, from the medieval trebuchet to the self-propelled precision-guided missile. As part of the commemorations of the centenary celebrations the Great War, special emphasis will be given on the artillery used during the First World War.
You are all invited to take time out to meet and interact with the players and test your knowledge by answering questions in the booklet of games issued free of charge to each child at the entrance or downloaded from our website.
As a memento, all children will receive a Saint Barbara 2016 Edition badge.
